Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Some bits and pieces from the first weekend back- How'd Ja Like ... the Mets gaining two full games on the entire NL East Saturday & Sunday? The weekend sure didnt look like it was going to end up that good while in the midst of the Friday night debacle.- How'd Ja Like ... the NL East teams NOT named the NY Mets scoring a total of three runs on Sunday? Braves = 1, Nats = 2 (both in garbage time), Phils & Marlins both shut-out- How'd Ja Like ... the Marlins not scoring since before the ASG? They got shut out three straight by the (bad pitching) Brewers including Sunday when they went 13 innings before losing 1-0.- How'd Ja Like ... that the Nats cant score for shit? They scored five runs off Dodger pitching for the entire series and got swept despite having Strasburg, Gonzalez and Zimmermann all lined up.- How'd Ja Like ... Houston pitcher Erik Bedard taking himself out of a no-hitter on Saturday? One out into the 7th with 109 pitches under his belt in a game tied 2-2, Bedard told his manager Im Done during a mound conference. Astros went on to lose 4-2 depite Seattle getting just one hit. - How Ya Like ... the Dodgers creeping to within a 1/2 game of first place out west?Part of it is the mediocre division out there (Arizona is in 1st at just 3 games over .500) but, considering how their season started, they've had to crawl a long way just to get there
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I like it all just fine. And with the two prime time games in the American League, all the NL teams are in the clubhouse.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Special request to the Marlins, however, to stop playing terribly (against everybody but the Mets). We need them to help pick off some of the guys ahead of the Mets.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 And Baltimore completes the sweep of Texas to go along with Tampa's sweep of Toronto. Now all we need is for the Sawx to hold onto tonight's game and it'll be a very hurtful week in Yanqui-land.
