Dickey, major league sources told FOXSports.com on Tuesday.Wrights option is worth $16 million. Dickeys will be $5 million or more based on award bonuses. Wright and Dickey are the Mets top position player and pitcher, respectively, and sources say the team remains engaged with both in discussions about long-term contracts. At this moment, both are eligible for free agency after the coming season. Wright is coming off his best year since at least 2008, and re-signing him for the long term is viewed as essential if the Mets want to remain relevant and competitive. The knuckleballing Dickey was one of the best stories in baseball this year and could win the National League Cy Young Award, after going 20-6 with a 2.73 ERA.http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/new-york-mets-david-wright-ra-dickey-exercise-2013-options-103012
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Book-keeping procedures really now that the deadlines for such stuff is only three days away. Options are being picked up (or, in some cases, declined) all over baseball this week.Nothing surprising certainly as they weren't going to lose either guy for nothing even though some I'm sure were hoping to see at least a Wright extension announced within this period. Maybe it means that such talks aren't proceeding as quickly as hoped but that's pure speculation at this point.
