Justin Verlander just went the distance for Detroit.

Ninth inning, up 3-1.

    1. Billy Butler singles on a line drive to left fielder Ryan Raburn.
Offensive Substitution: Pinch runner Jason Bourgeois replaces Billy Butler.

    2. Jeff Francoeur grounds out, second baseman Brandon Inge to first baseman Prince Fielder. Jason Bourgeois to 2nd.
    One out.

    3. Mike Moustakas grounds out, second baseman Brandon Inge to first baseman Prince Fielder. Jason Bourgeois to 3rd.
    Two out.

    4. Humberto Quintero singles on a ground ball to right fielder Don Kelly, deflected by first baseman Prince Fielder. Jason Bourgeois scores. Detroit up, 3-2.

    5. Mitch Maier walks. Humberto Quintero to 2nd.
That's the tying run on second, the winning run on first. Coaching visit to mound.

    6. Alcides Escobar hit by pitch. Humberto Quintero to 3rd. Mitch Maier to 2nd.
    Injury Delay. BASES LOADED!

Alex Gordon called out on strikes.

The last pitch was clocked by another gun at 101. It was his 131st pitch of the night. After the game they took some measurements and found out that Jim Leyland has the biggest pair of nuts in baseball. God bless you, Jim Leyland.

The same Philly team who couldn't touch Met starting pitching got five runs in six innings against Tim Lincecum. It's a 5-2 lead in the middle of six with Halladay on the mound.

Lincecum is throwing 90-91. That can't be good.

Twins beat Pavano and the Yankees running away, 7-3. Oh, gosh. Who can sleep on such a night?

MFYs scored all 3 in the first inning, the 1st 2 on back to back (and belly to belly!) HRs by Derek J. Rogers and Granderson.

Sterling must have blown out his throat making that call because he sounded like an elderly frog by the end of the game.

I saw that Verlander 9th ... and it was awesome.
Leyland even came out in the midst of that 9th inning mini-crisis but opted to leave Verlander in - maybe he was talked out of a change or maybe he never intended to in the first place. The very first pitch after the mound meet was the HBP that loaded the bases and still Leyland stuck with him, and this is on a team with a closer who was "perfect" in 49 save opps last year (although one who is having a rougher go so far this season -- 4.2 IP, 3 ER, 8 base-runners)
