Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Killer.Mets First Off-Season Move: LayoffsBy RICHARD SANDOMIRThe Mets announced Friday that they recently laid nearly 10 percent of their 180 front-office employees, a development that will only further discourage a fan base bracing for the possible departure of Jose Reyes, their free-agent shortstop. In a statement, the team said: Several weeks ago, we made work-force reductions in both the baseball and business-operations departments, which amounted to less than 10 percent of our full-time staff.Blahblah Reyes. Blahblah Madoff Ponzi blah blah.I bought it on a Friday also.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Well, it's not like the organization isn't bleeding money apart from Madoff.
Guest metsguyinmichigan Guests Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Edgy --When you said you bought it, are you saying you were laid off, too?I'm so sorry to hear that.My paper laid off many people last week, too. My wife, included.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted November 5, 2011 Author Posted November 5, 2011 Yeah, but I was fortunate enough to be given a few months to find another position, and doubly fortunate enough to find one.I kinda suspected that, when they scheduled my performance review for 4:00 on a Friday, it wasn't a good time to buy property.

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 My job is making big talk about huge layoffs unless we the workers give huge givebacks , in health, pensions and so forth, meanwhile the CEO pulls down $1.5 million. Both Unions at the hospital have contracts that run through December 31st ,2012, so yeah they are asking us to open our contracts, not going to happen.
Guest attgig Guests Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 so, if they're cutting staff, does that mean that the mets 25 man roster will become a 22 man roster, and the 40 man roster will be 36? Then they're going to have to play with 8 men on the field, and with only a 3rd base coach.it's gonna be a rough year.
