Shut up, Times

Even as the Mets have defied a season-long consensus that there's no reason to care for them, Jim Luttrell of the Times responded to their current fate by calling on fans to bring the satire, as writers for the Paper of Record are either bankrupt of such humor or above producing it directly.

Well, good for hats off to Jason Fry for biting the hand that feeds whatever brother journalists like him still survive. I realize that things are dire, New York Times, but you don't want to be the last ones into the snark business.

I just don't get it. As frustrating as the injuries and some of the near misses have been, it's been great fun rooting for the Mets this year. Last night was a perfect example of it.

If you don't like this year's Mets, you don't like the Mets. Or maybe you don't like baseball.

Lame attempt at irreverence from the only newspaper that matters, only than the one MGIM writes for.

I agree with everything my partner wrote except for giving such a worthless piece of crap any attention at all.

The Mets season is meaningless if and only if you think like a Yankee fan.

It's fun to watch them win games, even if they don't make the playoffs. This team is much more entertaining then they've been in years and you know that they're never out of games.

I guess there's a class of fake baseball fan that's leaning Yankees but have been kind of bored with them for a while, and aren't committed enough to join the permanent club, and would like to consider the Mets as an alternative, just to be different and give the finger to the Yankee fan mook establishment they never quite felt at home in, but can't take the chance until the team shows itself to be the relative safe risk the Yankees are.

Stick to college football or something.

Actually I'm fine with those folks sticking around. Maybe next season when the Mets look good in August. They bring money and revenue to the team that helps make the team better and keeps guys like Jose Reyes here.

Yeah, well, I guess I'm not really good with them getting some of the few plum sportswriting jobs left.
