Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 Is it me or are game times being really successfully controlled this year?I speak as a man who has only seen games involving the Mets, but... the last two games, with 10 and 12 runs scored and seven and six pitcher changes respectively, each clocked in at 2:48. The games of the Washington series all came in over three hours, and the 11-inning finale went near four, but that was a pretty cold stretch. The team's average is about three hours, which is no great accomplishment, but only one of the last nine games has gone over three, as the weather has warmed a little.I'm not sure if it's a matter of the league mandates to the umps being effective so much as maybe fewer close games and the Mets having only one lefty reliever, who has been generally ineffective, leading to fewer mid-inning pitcher changes. But I tell you, it's been a pleasingly crisp week of Mets baseball in more ways than one. And that's good, because all my favorite radio ads are gone. New York Auto Giant Dot Com, whither goest thou?

New York Auto Giant Dot Com, whither goest thou?Is it gone? I think I heard the Atlantic Hyundai (part of the New York..blah ) the other day. It's too early for me to notice the game times. But yeah, I haven't felt any of that grinding 40 minutes with like one half inning feeling this year.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 26, 2011 Posted April 26, 2011 The shortest game was 2:24, Roy Halladay and the 11-0 shutout. So, um, game time isn't everything.
