Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 The funny-sad hijinx of two sisters who clean up after crime scenes. See if you can spot the metaphors!
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Netflix has been begging me to watch that. No way. It's selling me too hard and I have my defenses up.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 It was ... okay. On the one hand, it tells a sweet story of how a family that's had a rough go of it gets up off the ground and tries to recover. On the other hand, the metaphorical aspect of it was like hitting a batting practice fastball over the fence, and it didn't quite succeed in being a dark comedy despite its blend of sad and funny.Could have used some nudity.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted January 30, 2010 Posted January 30, 2010 Clunky script. The director and actors do the best they can with it, it seems.Emily Blunt makes me care about selfish ne'er-do-wells more than I usually do. And damn if that Amy Adams doesn't breath life into lost-causes like an overcommitted EMT.
