metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 Guillermo del Toro produces this chiller , Laura returns with her husband and son Simn and buys the orphanage where she spent some of her youth , her plans are to fix it up and take in disabled children.Soon Simn is acting up and talking about his " friends" that play with him , when Simn goes missing what follows I found disturbing and transfixing as Laura is convinced that things that happened at the orphanage in the past are responsible for what is happening now.Is she going crazy , can she separate reality from her imagination?I wouldn't class this as a horror but I was on the edge of my seat throughout the movie and the payoff was worth it.
