I wonder if Matsui is done for the season , really I don't wonder that as I couldn't give a fuck if he's out for the season or not.

This year he's trashed lefties. Two years ago, he was actually much better against righties. For his career, he's slightly better vs. LHP, but he's really not much of a platoon candidate.

He does hit lefties well, and unlike other players the Yankees use at first base he can actually field the position. With Matsui likely done, he's a cheap upgrade over their other options for DH and 1B, at least against a lefty. But I'll be shocked (not to mention peeved) if this turns out to be a major benefit to the Yankees.
