Reyes at 25

Wednesday night's in-game trivia question linked Reyes to Ty Cobb as the only players to have 50 triples and 250 stolen bases before turning 25.

Now that's kind of a quirky record, but I do think fans tend to forget sometimes just how young he still is and take for granted that he's supposed to be much closer to grizzled vet stage by now.
So I thought I'd look at some current stars and check on how many ML ABs they had (approx in some cases) by birthday #25 compared to our boy.

Ken Griffey Jr. - 3,180

There may be some others I'm missing who should be up there, but the only ones I was able to find with a longer career to date at that age were two #1 overall draft picks and teenage phenoms. Remember also that Reyes lost approx 300 ABs when what should have been his first full year was a partial washout due to those mysterious leg and back injuries.

AG do you still believe a reasonable definition of insanity is " doing the same things over and over and expecting diferent results" is false? Thats actually the AA definition but.

As a lifestyle definition it certainly applies to the Mets, Milton Bradley and career criminals

and holding the belief that Omar & Willie can turn this around. Now thats insane.

You called it the definition. It's not. I don't really think it's a reasonable definition, either. It hints at truth, but it isn't true logically. The "definition" is now used regularly by politicians of both stripes to insult there opponents. Bill Clinton once took the chance during a debate to say, "You know, my wife showed me a book that says the defintion of insanity is..."

Ugh, I knew this guy wasn't the candidate for me.

I take a sledge hammer to the wall, it bounces back. I do it again, it bounces back. It's an act of faith to believe that eventually the hammer will go through the wall, but also an act of rational application of experience. And eventually the hammer goes through the wall. Different result.

Some struggling courses are worth staying on. Others are not. some are worth modestly adjusting, but not turning back on. Others are worth dramatically adjusting but not completely scrapping.

This is in no way an endorsement of Willie and/or Omar. Only an assertion that the statment is not the defintion of insanity and it doesn't pass for analysis.

Pretty consistent. So far, it's a comeback year if anything.
