metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Family patriarch dies and as family and friends gather at his home for the funeral high jinks ensue in this dark Brit comedy.I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard during a movie , this is a riot.
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I saw this in the theater last summer. It was uneven in places, but it definitely had its moments.I would have given it 7 on a scale of 1-10.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I saw it in the theaters last year. Very funny indeed. I also would've given it seven but rounded it up to four stars because I'm feeling generous today.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Finally rented it. Very clever. Those crazy Brits and Paul McCartney's old flame, Jane Asher.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 Didn't get through it. Cliches, man.
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2009 Posted May 20, 2009 Funny but uneven. I generally like Frank Oz, though.
Guest sharpie Guests Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) Was at the movies this past weekend (Up in the Air) and saw a preview for a remake of this with Chris Rock and a mostly black cast. WTF?Is this the quickest a movie has ever been remade when it was in English in the first place? Plus, Peter Dinklage plays the midget in both movies. Isn't there a second midget actor? Now I'm concerned that people will see the remake and foul up the scientific research that made this poll. Edited January 25, 2010 by Guest
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 The last time Chris Rock went shopping for ideas to steal in Europe (and this movie is only kind of European), he came home with I Think i Love My Wife --- a bomb whose fallout is still raining down on his career.
