I know you were thinking it would be Gary Carter.

But, Joe DePastino takes over in his first professional managerial assignment heading the West Michigan Whitecaps, the Detroit Tigers Midwest League (A) team here in Grand Rapids.

DePastino had a 13-year catching career that included a brief Major League callup to the Mets in 2003.

Guy sounds like Crash Davis.

DePastino, Hietpas, M. Glavine...more career minor leaguers got their Moonlight Graham shot under Art Howe per capita than anyone.
