Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Jorge Sosa, sez Marty Noble. Yet another hard thrower who walks too many and surrenders too many HRs.Sosa had a bad year last year -- pitched his way off the Braves, was traded to St. L and didn't make their postseason bullpen -- but a good/lucky one in '05. Interesting fact: He had only 3 hits last year: All of them were home runs.

Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 All of his hits are home runs? Who cares if he can pitch? The Mets should sign him to be a pitch hitter.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Sosa is one of those converted guys, originally signed as an outfielder. What little baseball talk there was at the table today was about how it looked an awful lot like Omar's fixin' to make a trade or two.But maybe in the absense of a big stud the plan is, lets gather as many high-potential arms as we can and see who rises to the occassionHere's an AP blurb with further detail:Mets close to agreement with Jorge SosaJanuary 13, 2007]NEW YORK (AP) -- The New York Mets and pitcher Jorge Sosa were close to agreement Saturday on a one-year contract worth about $1.25 million.Sosa, a 29-year-old right-hander, was a combined 3-11 with a 5.42 ERA last season for Atlanta and St. Louis, making $2.2 million. He became a free agent last month when the Cardinals failed to offer a 2007 contract. He went 13-3 with a 2.55 ERA for the Braves the previous season. After the terms are finalized, Sosa must take a physical. With Pedro Martinez out for the first half of the season, New York has a large group competing for jobs in its rotation behind Tom Glavine and Orlando Hernandez. The hopefuls include John Maine, Oliver Perez, Mike Pelfrey, Philip Humber and Dave Williams.

I don't see how he could hurt, at any rate.I get the feeling the New Orleans affiliate will have some very well-paid players by AAA standards.iramets Jan 14 2007 05:26 AMWe've actually reached the point that I will open these "Mets sign Soandso..." with zero excitement and a total expectation of "OK, let's see what the bullshit gag is THIS time, sigh"--isn't there some sort of story about boys who cry wolves? Eventually, the Mets will sign a Zito or an A-rod, and no one will bother opening the thread that exclaims it....abogdan Jan 16 2007 03:27 PMI checked in just to see "Mets sign Sosa" in the subject line.Oh yeah, Mets sign Sosa.
