Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 25, 2006 Posted August 25, 2006 For the second game of the series, Mark Mulder made his long anticipated return to the mound for the Cardinals. Apparently, the Mets weren't impressed. The Mets pounded Mulder for 9 earned runs in 3 nightmarish innings for Cardinal fans, but they were truly heavenly to Mets fans. Staked to a sizable early lead, Mets starter Steve Trachsel struggled to hold off the Cardinals. A succession of mostly effective relievers were able to hold off the Cardinals and secure the Mets sixth straight win. This game was sponsored by the O'Fallon Brewery of O'Fallon, Missouri. The Mets have been the gold standard of the National all season, so it seemed only fitting that they celebrate this victory with O'Fallons Gold Beer.
