Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted August 6, 2006 Posted August 6, 2006 John Maine pitched 6 shut out innings to extend his string of scoreless innings to 23, while picking up his second win of the season. Maine's on a roll right now and he's making the Benson trade look better all the time. The Mets offense gave Maine plenty of support with a seven run fourth inning, capped by a Jose Reyes grand slam. Jose Valentin threw in a deep solo blast in the fifth inning to cap the fun. The Mets have now won the last 6 games that I have been able to watch on TV. Obviously, I need to be able to see more games. Hopefully, that will carry over into the post season. Here at the POTG Beer Poll headquarters in NC, we aim to please. Last night, our very own Frayed Knot, requested some Genesee Cream Ale. Luckily, the fine people at the High Falls Brewing Company were gracious enough to supply the beer for a second consecutive night. As long as the Mets keep winning, they'll keep sending the beer to Shea.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Maine was great, but I gave the beer to Jose - that grand slam turned the game from a close one into a laugher. It was the defining moment of the game.
