Saw this on Saturday night.

If you are a NY Times crossword puzzle addict (as I am) its quite interesting.

It focuses on the annual crossword puzzle tournament sponsored by the Times and its resident 'enigmatologist' and crossword puzzle editor, Will Shortz.

Included are cameos and interviews by people like Bill Clinton, Jon Stewart (very funny of course), Daniel Okrent, Mike Mussina, The Indigo Girls etc.

I liked it but recommend it only if you are a crossword puzzle fan

The peeps who should be interviewed are Kent Hrbek, Bill Shea (too late, I know), and the president of Eire.

Soupcan, did you really get to see this?!

As you know I am a puzzle nut too and I have read about it and thought it sounded interesting.

I doubt that it will make it to my little berg though. And I would probably have to go by myself. :(

Wouldn't it be fun to be in a crossword tournement? It has always been one of my fantasies

Um, yes.

I always thought it might be fun to enter a tournament but after you see the movie there are two things you realize.

1 - These people are professionals. They finish Saturday puzzles in about 10 minutes flat - tops. That's just completely so far out of my league.

2 - Shoving bamboo shoots under my fingernails would be preferable to spending any time in a room alone with any of them.

Wow, that is amazing; how do they even write that fast?

i saw this movie, and i loved it. i thought it was the second best of the nerd-contest trilogy, the other two being word wars (scrabble), and spellbound (spelling bees). spellbound is my favorite.

i liked it partly because i just like to listen to really really smart people talk about anything, especially something they are very good at, because of the interesting way they express themselves, yunno, sometimes using the perfect word to describe whatever. it is satisfying when someone says something really well and they use a sort of obscure word to explain exactly what they mean. thats the kind of thing you get in conversations from these word master types.

Weird change of subject, but yeah. I'll have time this year to head this up if JG can't

I asked my son to put this on his Blockbuster online list; we'll see if he does.
