This looks very similar to what I found the last time I did this--power + speed = sum of Mets offense, but it's been a very effective combination for us. We're terrible at drawing walks, but we also don't strike out a lot.

I'd like to see us get on base more, but it's hard to argue with the results so far. The question is, how does a power/speed team do in the post season? If anyone knows of similar offensive teams who made the postseason, let me know--or better yet, post how they did in this thread!

Well, we walk people at an average rate and strike them out at a good one. We allow a lot of home runs. All in all, our pitching has been pretty solid, but I'd expect our BABIP to go up in the second half--.290 is awfully low--and our RA/G to increase along with it. Of course, some of that low BABIP has to do with our fine defense, which I expect to remain good.

Defense

Deffense Efficiency Ratio: .710 (T: 3rd)

I'll look at the rotation/bullpen split later, but I think it's pretty clear we need one of Trachsel, Soler, Maine, Bannister or Pelfrey to step up and post #3 starter numbers. I'm actually fairly optimistic that one of them can do it, but clearly, making a trade for a capable starter is a good plan too.

Any solid innings eater will help take the pressure off our bullpen, which we need to be in peak form in October. Anything more than a solid innings eater is gravy, IMO.

Anyway, all in all, we look pretty darn dominant in a weak National League. The name of the game now is preparing for the post season, which Willie seems fully aware of.
