Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 It's a shame. It's a wonderful ballpark, and I wish there was a way to keep it standing. The Roman Colosseum is in worse shape, hasn't hosted a major event in years, and nobody's talking about tearing it down. It's too bad that Detroit doesn't love its relics as much as Rome does.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Sad and shameful. Too bad Detroit doesn't have a big-league baseball team anymore either.
Guest cleonjones11 Guests Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Saw a double-header there as a kid and saw Reggie do the same light tower job he did in the all star game. It was like a scene from the Natural where the ball hits the black box..goes thump..and seems to fall in slow motion. It got very very quiet. Vern Ruhle was the pitcher. Beyond that the stadium, neighborhood and walk to parking was a bit frightening. Mom would call that last part an understatement.I liked Jarry Park better lol. Have a great night everybody!
