Guest cooby Guests Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Thanks for the memories...I don't know if anybody here posts there and already knows this, but while visiting there this evening I ran across this thread and thought I would point it out if anybody is interested in letting Mike P know how much he's been appreciatedI think it is a nice idea. Though I am no longer a regular at MOFO, from all indications, Joe MacDonald does have some access to the players, so he would probably get it to him.http://www.nysportsday.com/themofo/showthread.php?t=24414
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 Appreciation threads from a forum that spent most of it's time calling him a choking loser, a selfish ingrate, and trying to trade him at least twice a week always gets just a bit teary eyed.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 25, 2005 Posted September 25, 2005 I spent the afternoon thanking him.

That might account for the low response so far...
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 26, 2005 Posted September 26, 2005 Well, I am exaggerating a bit.But I do get a kick out of the whole thing considering all the comments over the years;* about how he wasn't clutch enough -- 'gee, when I saw him on highlight shows as a Dodger he was always getting hits'- about how he was disappointing because he never hit .360 after he got here -- he did so once in LA so naturally many NYM fans expected it constantly- about how he didn't throw out enough runners -- like they didn't know that was a weakness coming in- and just basically blaming him being costly and for getting older -- as if it didn't occur to them that this was a very possible outcome over the length of a 7-year contract while they were demanding that the team "Do whatever it takes" to sign him.I'm sure there are posters over there who truly like Piazza and whose words will be real, and that the complainers could very well be in the minority. But just the whole concept of a virtual love letter from the MoFo to Mike Piazza has me chuckling.
