They gave away the second video at a Met game I was at a season or two ago. I don;t have a hooked up VCR anymore, so I'd be happy to send it to ya.

The first one sounds intrriguing. This is where the Crane Pool Library endowment would come in handy.

I have a bunch of those sixties team produced promo films ... presented by Borden!
They're a little hokey, but I still watch them from time to time. Hearing Lyndsey
Nelson's voice just doesn't get old with us sentimental types.

I'm willing to play library with them. I have them archived on dvd too but people
who have borrowed the dvd's have trouble viewing them. Not all dvd's play on all dvd's
apparently.

On a side note, does anyone know of a service that can put a record into
a digital format such as mp3 or that apple format?

I have a rare 33 1/3 (size of forty-five) that's called "Ralph Kiner talks with
The Amazin' Mets". It has a light blue label with white lettering and is in a
plain white sleeve which the seller (a friend of mine) assures me is the ori-
ginal sleeve.

Interviewed are Hodges, Seaver, Agee, McGraw, Grote, Kranepool, Boswell,
Swoboda, Koosman, Shamsky, Jones, and Harrelson.

Good question. Check out this product and it's copywriter's charming use of broken English.

That's a tall order, KC. I can tell you that a Manhattan university with a multi-million dollar computer/communication program has told me that I can take my old LPs and shove them up my ass for all the good they'll do me in a digital age. "We don't wanna archive vinyl, we don't wanna digitize vinyl, we don't wanna know from vinyl. Have a nice day." I've been reduced to bringing a guitar into class when I want to illustrate a point from pre-1980s music, and subjecting them to listening to me sing. "Please, Professor. We'll do anything you say. Just stop singing."

OTOH, I just bought a DVD recorder, specifcally to re-record old VHS tapes in danger of deteriorating--so if anyone has old VHS tapes they want preserved, I'm your guy. (You won't mind if I make myself a DVD copy while I'm making yours? I thought not.)

Does your DVD recorder allow you to set the quality of the copy?

Here's what I mean: My TiVO box can write DVD's, but I can't fit anything that's longer than two hours. If I wanted to copy a complete baseball game I'd have to do it on two (or more) DVD's. It would be nice if there was a setting like you have on a VCR, where you can choose to put two, four, or six hours on the disk.

KC,

I am a DJ (and I use that term VERY loosely) and like to spin a little and make my own tracks.

I bought a MAudio Audiophile 2496 soundcard for my computer so I could record off of vinyl and have recorded a number of records and converted them into MP3s.

I would offer to do it for you, I just don't see how it is feasible, considering I am up here in Boston.

My dvd recorder has speeds for quality. Fine (1 hr), then 2hr, 4hr, and 6.

What brand did you get, Bret? Mine is a Pioneer, I love it, but when I sent Mrs.
Fields a dvd of the aforementioned tapes they couldn't view them on any of their
players. There appears to be more than one format.

Thanks mole, I'll check that out. I don't plan on recording a lot, just a couple
of Mets records from long defunct record labels.

On edit, thanks chicken (I didn't see you sneak that post in). I'll checkout this
Gold thing first and let youse know if I'm succesful.

It's a Zenith. One-touch recording was the selling point--it remains to be seen if I'll feel that way after I try one-touch recording.
