Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Hardball Times' Ben Jacobs takes a look at flaws of the NL East clubs. His conclusion? Fishies and Mets have the best shots. http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/article/finding-flaws-nl-east/
Guest metirish Guests Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Good article but the cheap shopt at Matsui is lame...Even Tom Glavine (2.16 ERA his last five starts) seems to be turning it around. So the only real problems on the pitching staff are Dae-Sung Koo, who is now on the DL, and Kaz Ishii, whose saving grace is that he isn't the worse Kaz on the team.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I think "worser" would be a more correct usage.
Guest smg58 Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 This is liable to stay tight the rest of the way. The Marlins look like the best team on paper, but they're in last right now. Assuming Jim Thome doesn't hit .207 the whole year, you have to take the Phillies seriously. The Nats have had a solid pen so far, they're winning with their best player (Vidro) on the DL, and their line-up is better than they get credit for. Ignore them at your peril. And of course, the Braves are still the team to beat until somebody finally proves otherwise.I think it will boil down to who makes the best deals between now and the deadline.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Not to accuse nobody of nuttin', but Thome may be suffering PoSSy.McGwire-like sypmptoms, man.
Guest soupcan Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 I assume you are making steroid accusations Edge-mon, but what's PoSSy?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 More speculation than accusation. It just occurred to me on the spot.Post-Steroid Syndrome. It's a clinical term.In my clinic, anyhow.
Guest soupcan Guests Posted June 8, 2005 Posted June 8, 2005 Whenever I hear of joint problems in an athlete now that's exactly what I think of as well.It was on the record that I was the first person ever to accuse McGwire of 'roids by the way. After his Andro use was discovered I opined online at si.com that perhaps his past and then lingering physical ailments were a result of steroid use. For a long time if you googled my name, that comment would show up.Not there now though.HIs people must have gotten to them..
