Guest cooby Guests Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Well shoot, now I'm back at the office.I will TRY to remember to put it on when I get home. (that'll make the family's eyes roll)
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 16, 2005 Posted June 16, 2005 Thanks to the link Seawolf provided, I bought some pins for myself today.I e-mailed Seawolf to tell him that I would still purchase the Wright pin that he bought for me (it's hard to have too much of Mr. Wright). OTOH, if anyone else wants that one, I'll kindly step aside. Either way, thanks Seawolf - both for picking that up for me and for giving us the link so I can buy them for myself.

Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 20, 2005 Posted June 20, 2005 I just ran out to Superfresh and picked up my own. Cameron too.Now I'm just waiting for Mr. Met. Kase - let me know if you want one of those.Seawolf - thanks again for the link.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 My mother mentioned last week that she and my dad had a really special gift for me. They had blown off my birthday and felt bad. I figured, don't kill yourself you know. But she said my dad is having a really good time putting it together and it's not ready yet.My money is on a Felix Heredia-enhanced complete set of Met pins.
Guest seawolf17 Guests Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 If my mom knew they were doing these pins, she'd probably see a bin full of Felix Heredia pins on closeout sale somewhere for a quarter each and just buy me twenty of those. She means well, but sometimes she doesn't quite get it.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 I hear you. (You should see my Christmas present.)But my dad is on the job, also. We'll see. Hopes are not up.
Guest soupcan Guests Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Today: Tuesday: Wednesday:Thursday: DONE.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 No - Mr. Met was yesterday. Thursday is the 2005 Mets Team Pin.
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Edgy, I haven't gotten my gift from my parents either. They keep calling and saying (hack, hack) how sick they are and (hack, hack) they'll be down when they (hack, hack) feel better in a few days...I just wonder...Nah

Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 27, 2005 Posted June 27, 2005 Ok. The list at Superfresh was wrong, then. Sorry.
Guest soupcan Guests Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Actually something is wrong somewhere with the list of which pin gets distributed when. The coupons say one thing but the distributors have a different list. At least the guy I get mine from had a different schedule. He was cool and gave me Mr. Met and the team pin today sans coupons. All I need is Benson tomorrow and I'm completed.Enough already with these things - at $3.25 a pop plus tax plus an extra newspaper a day to get two sets I dropped close to $200.00 on this 'project'.I'm gambling that these things will become collectors items and in 10 years when I put 'em on ebay on some dope (a current or future Cranepooler perhaps?) will fork over soupcan jrs. freshman year tution.Probably not the best odds on that one though. Makes me wonder who the real dope is.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 Dear Edgy,I hope you are still a Mets fan. I am.Love to Cha Cha.Love,Mom and DadTwenty-five pins, plus the folder and an extra Pedro Martinez. The whole kit and caboodle (sp?) must have cost almost a hundred bucks.
Guest seawolf17 Guests Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 You might want to consider selling your DeJean pin. I wish I'd bought a handful, considering the bin was full of them every time I went into the store.
Guest soupcan Guests Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 $52.99!?Amazin'!OE: Awesome Edgy. Do you like them?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 14, 2005 Posted July 14, 2005 A symbol of a taciturn parent's love? I'm crazy about it.Doesn't mean I won't flip that extra Pedro pin if it starts going for three figures.
Guest cooby Guests Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Edgy, how much do you want for your extra Pedro pin?
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 For you, Cooby, are you kidding? Your money's no good here.On the other hand, if you have doubles in yearbooks any year, I've just begun trying to collect those.Or whatever. Even that's too much. PM me with an offer.
Guest cooby Guests Posted September 16, 2005 Posted September 16, 2005 Aw, I'm just kidding. I couldn't take away your parents' gift. Besides, I think it sounds kind of cute that they got you an extra Pedro pin. Actually I do have an extra Mets yearbook from either '72, '73, or '74. I can't remember which year it was, but they accidentally sent me two of them.I know I only paid for one because I remember taping 5 quarters to a note card and sending them to Shea Stadium, Flushing NY, 11368.I got a yearbook in the mail on two consecutive days and was very happy!I'll dig around this weekend and see which one it is and we'll see if it is one that you need.
Guest cooby Guests Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 I'm sorry Edgy. I've had a very crummy past couple of months and this slipped my mind. Here is the yearbook that I thought I had a duplicate of, but in fact, I have three! (maybe I got one three days in a row...)If it is one that you need for your collection, of course you may have one, as my gift to you, as long as you don't mind that it smells a little cellar-y.I dug these out last night, took them to bed, and flipped through all three of them to make sure one wasn't a revised edition or something, but they are all identical. It's a beautiful yearbook, as they were back then, with a lot of wonderful local ads, pictures, and human touches. If you decide you want it, look for these:Dr. James Parks in tartan plaid pantsA very young Marty Noble, looks about 20-25A very nice tribute to Ralph Kiner's HOF inductionJerry Koosman and his fruitTwo page color spread on 1974 All Star GameA whole lot of mutton chop sideburnsA Manufacturers Hanover bank ad: "Can't get to the bank by 3? Pitch your deposit in our after hours box!" No mention of needing a key, locked bag, or special contract with the bank.Schafer Circle Of Sports beer ad on back page. Can looks just like the one laying in the woods behind my house. I really ought to rescue that before we move.Yogi Berra, the "pixie-ish" pilot of the MetsAnyhow, let me know if you are interested.
