Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12, 2025 Posted April 12, 2025 I suspect José Siri might change things real soon, but the Mets have gone 14 games — almost a 10th of the schedule — without making any changes to the Opening Day 26-Man Roster. That is the way it should be, maybe, but it feels pretty rare. I went back and checked, and last season, the transacting started early, calling up Reed Garrett and IL-ing Tylor Megill after the first series. In 2023, they only made it to Day 2 before Justin Verlander had to be placed on the IL and Megill this time got the call.Among other things, putting Siri on the IL would give him a chance to get some swings in the minors, and if he doesn't go, Hayden Senger will have to when Francisco Álvarez is done with his IL assignment. No huge deal, but if the Mets First contest included the date of the first MLB transaction, we all probably would have lost.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted April 13, 2025 Posted April 13, 2025 Funny, I kinda forgot about Álvarez. I was big on him early lastyear. I think I predicted everyone in the stands wearing Álvarezjerseys. Today, I'm not so sure...
