Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 28, 2023 Posted April 28, 2023 Anyone know who these slash line numbers belong to?A) 277/347/522 // 869 207/249/287 // 536Don't bother trying to guess. I didn't design this as a quiz and neither is a single person anyway.A is the combined offense of Atlanta catchers since the beginning of the 2022 season while B, sadly, is what NYM backstops have been putting up over the same period of time. Y'know who had an 869 OPS last season? Pete Fucking Alonso that's who!Y'know who had a 536 OPS in 2022? Some guy who makes a lot of outs and hits for no power. I'd give you an actual name but no one who hitthat low was given enough PAs to even qualify. Nido alone surpasses that for his career (562) which means it's not just that Nido is such asub-par hitter it's that the other NYM catchers have collectively been worse than him.On the other side the Braves in 22-23 have had Td'A (currently on the concussion IL) was 704 as a Met and 785 w/Atlanta; William Contreras [809]and this year picked up Sean Murphy who put up four seasons in Oakland but 996 so far w/Braves]Want an extra base hit comparison (sure you do): ATL = 71 since the start of '22, MYN = 14. HRs: 35 to 6
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 1, 2023 Author Posted May 1, 2023 Sean Murphy has been a member of the Braves for like an hour and a half now (OK it's been a month but you get my point) and has 8 HRs. All NYM catchers combined have 8 HRs since the start of the 2022 season!!!!!!!!!!!!
