Organizational Sweep Time in 2021

The Mets are rained out? Brooklyn ad Binghamton too? The short season leagues haven't yet started their schedule? What a great opportunity to improve the likelihood of an organizational sweep.



And our friends in Syracuse and St. Lucie answered opportunities invitation in very different manners, with AAA Mets shutting down Rochester 1-0, and their little brothers in A-ball blasting the Daytona Torgugas 15-3.



In Rochester, the Mets enjoyed a combined four-hitter served up through the arms of Jerad Eickoff (three hits in six innings) and Corey Oswalt (one hit in three innings). Eickhoff improves to 4-0 which is something considering that (a) his team is only 8-16, and ( his win total would tie him for the lead on the New York Mets, who started a month earlier and have won 17 more games. Their lone RBI came off of the bat of catcher Nick Meyer, who has surprising weedled his way into the #1 role since Deivy Grullon ate it on the waiver wire.



St. Lucie's explosion of offense was more than business as usual, but it was the team's best farm club doing what they do best. Amazingly, though, the team's 15 runs came on only six hits, which were blessedly augmented by (sit down for this) 18 Daytona walks, including five in only one inning by Daytona pitcher Juan Abril. Could you imagine how long a day it would have been if Daytona had been the home team?



Number nine hitter Ranfy Adon went 0-1, but walked four times, scoring twice and driving in one.
