There are backup infielders who can field, and backup infielders who can hit. Heck, if we could do it all, we wouldn't be backup infielders. We'd be infielders.

That's oversimplifying it certainly. But I'm Phil Evans and I have big league stick, and I'm searching for a spot in the lineup from which I can swing it. Yeah, I looked kind of tubby last season, but I'm working on that. I doing the South Beach thing. And alternating with the Zone thing. Maybe throw a little Atkins bullshit in there and I'm ready to go.

But hey, I realize just slendering down won't make me Ozzie Smith. But there's room this world for the Kevin Mitchells, ore even the Wilmer Floreses. They'll find spots in there for you if you hit. I just need to hit. And hit and hit and hit. And I can hit. Sometimes. I mean, my minor league career OPS is ... well, it's .683. So don't pay any attention to that. I'm a swinger, I tell ya!

I'm going to go get a tan and talk to Wilmer. I need you to think about how that's going to work out for me. I'll be over there when you have your answer.
