  2. Edgy DC wrote: Were we guarding the line there? not at all. way off the line. great play by Turner for the second out.
  3. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr wrote: Not sure how I feel about the Hairston sub here. You want to downgrade your defense with a 1(-3, thinking optimistically)-run lead for a small platoon advantage? That's exactly Hairston's role though. beat up on lefties, if he can't get it done..
  4. Edgy DC wrote: The Pirates put that super-shift on for LaRoche too. I was watching and wondering what happened to the thridbaseman. He somehow doesn't seem good enough for that treatment. Worked like a charm, though. So, five innings. Are we allowed to talk yet about that thingie we're not allowed to talk about? At least using oblique and non-specific references? well, if Howie can said it, we can right?
  5. Edgy DC wrote: Did I just hear them advertising a senior community? Riverwalk apartments? The Hebrew House?
  6. The drama of extra inning games is so much more boring in the AL.

I feel like if you haven't had a couple hundred AB in the majors you still have some semblence of potential. If you're in your mid-to-late-20s, and you haven't hit the living crap out of whatever minor league level at which you're playing, you're probably on the wrong side of that line. So what you're saying is..I'm never making it to the majors? shit.
  8. Edgy DC wrote: Pridie isn't a prospect at all, but a mid-career AAA vet with almost 1,000 minor league games behind him. Enjoy his hotness, but he isn't likely to grow into anything. Yeah. i don't know what he line between prospect and career minor leaguer is. I feel like if you haven't had a couple hundred AB in the majors you still have some semblence of potential. regardless, my point was that he's not really a "gotta play him everyday" type of minor leaguer, and even if his production doesn't grow into anything, he might be a better bench fit than Harris.
  9. Edgy DC wrote: Well, part of the reason is that they've been a pretty poor team since they released him in August 2009. And now we've got injuries to make our lineup at close to it's worst all year when we face him. doh!
  10. bmfc1 wrote: Why can't the Mets hit Livan Hernandez? From Brian Costa today, via Rubin: "Since the Mets released him in August 2009, Hernandez has become a Mets-killer. In six starts against them, he has posted a 1.96 ERA, allowing just 1.09 walks and hits per inning. Against the rest of the league over that span, he has a 4.27 ERA and 1.40 WHIP." Today seems like a good day to hit him.
  11. I kinda like Pridie, and he's not really much of a prospect right? Keep him instead of Harris when Pagan returns? I do kinda like Murphy but there's a chance he slides into a more utility type role when Ike and David are back. More time to make that decision, but Hu's already gone so the bench is already better. but as guys heal, these other guys that played well will strengthen the bench.
  12. Edgy DC wrote: It's good that the Yankees have to be thrown victories these days anyhow. I imagine Buck Showalter relishes beating them, thinks all Torre's championships should have been his, and will demand his players go after them with full vigor. The scheduled return of Ollie was a Harrsiburg rainout. Think he pitches today during the day. At least it's up against the Mets game so the beat writers will be mildly distracted so that we don't get play by play? I assume there will be enough fans at YSiii to get Jeter a good razzing Friday right?
  13. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I get mournful and depressed even thinking about that series. I was in a hotel in Niagara Falls, with a massive migraine. Fell asleep early in the first game and like to pretend it was all a bad dream.
  14. HahnSolo wrote: Piazza before Payton, I believe. I can't remember if there was an MFY homer before that though. Brosius hit one earlier in the game.
  15. burn out that bullpen. I hope tomorrow goes extras too.
  16. those challenges are always silly. Triple play was popular for a while, there was a cycle one for a bit..
  17. official. let it rain, i'm sleepy.
  18. Benjamin Grimm wrote: He really sticks to that optimism schtick. It ain't over 'till it's over after all. Presumably we'll get another call up to our All-DL team by then too.
  19. soupcan wrote: really? Twitter? Okay...thanks. That's where I'd go anyway. I use it all the time, so even if the Mets themselves were slow in tweeting it, Burkhardt or one of the handful of beat writers I follow would. http://search.twitter.com/search?q=mets That'll get you the last bunch of stuff being said about the Mets. if it's canceled chances are it'd show up.
  20. I don't really get it. seems an odd choice, even if the two teams could be playing for first that weekend.

  22. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I'll have the rump roast. Manager Jim Riggleman was a guest on Boomer & Carton this morning. Reminded me he was interviewed for the Mets job when they ultimately hired Wee Willie. He's a real patriot who loves the USA and also loves Ivan Rodriguez's attitude. Boomer and Carton spent most of that interview talking about Sammy Sosa and steroids. Riggy thought he was on Creatine.
  23. Hey Bay..how about not hitting it to dead center? That wouldn't have been out in ANY park in the entire league.
  24. that's Jeter you're thinking of. not that Wright is much better, but occasionally he gives you something interesting.
  25. Saw it last night. I gave it a B just because. I did really enjoy it though. Lots of action and craziness, which I tend to enjoy. Plus I have never seen any other incarnation of the A-Team, so I wasn't holding it up to any other standards.
