  1. Torre?!?! Managing?
  2. Bartolo's physique doesn't stand out so much any more.
  3. Big O for Agbayani.
  4. Jay Payton suddenly looking 60.
  5. Felix!
  6. Steve Dillon needs no escorting. Get lost.
  7. Anybuds know if this game and/or ceremonies can be streamed anywheres?
  8. He came out of his slump with violence last night. I have to say that I have some pause, worrying about his legs. He not only carries extra weight, but he has that Wilmer Flores way of coming down heavy on his feet, like there's no shock absorption or stored energy down there at all. I fear he may be a full-time DH by 25.
  9. Charlie Morton against Jordan Montgomery tonight. Pujols, Goldschmidt, and Molina have combined for no homers in 85 career at-bats against Morton. Why? I dunno.
  10. The Mets in past reunions, such as at the final game at Shea, have been pretty meticulous in outfitting players in era-specific uniforms, and folks were so excited by the creamy home whites that 1960s- and early 1970s-era Mets were outfitted in that the creamies were, for a time, added to the rotation. I have confidence that period-specific uni variety will be part of the festivities. https://4.bp.blogspot.com/_3pH8F1XaEYc/SOF5VjRaS4I/AAAAAAAACEE/PoFJXPnci2I/w1200-h630-p-k-no-nu/!!piazza.jpg> [fimg=600]http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-gDKoMnu_uP4/U9Lo7-XetPI/AAAAAAAA1tw/hPk1Wa37CzE/s1600/mazzilli+2008.jpg[/fimg] The calls to bring back the button-collar pullovers were ... less than deafening. http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-AY5ECDSC0Dk/U9LqSny4XFI/AAAAAAAA1uc/jHibMn6aFdk/s1600/Dave+Kingman+(244).jpg> [FIMG=600]http://res.cloudinary.com/ybmedia/image/upload/c_crop,h_1291,w_2000,x_0,y_0/c_scale,f_auto,q_auto,w_700/v1/m/6/d/6dbf6f4b1558f3d560c282b57be9f6e8365fba38/17-shea-stadium-queens-ny-1964-2008.jpg[/FIMG]
  11. And there I thought that Kansas was "The Jayhawk State." Why is Kansas called "The Sunflower State"? More than 3,000 years ago, American Indians utilized the native sunflower for food; over the centuries, the seeds were cultivated and the modern, oil-rich sunflower emerged. In 1903, Kansas declared itself the “Sunflower State,” naming the wild native plant as its official flower.

  13. "Mark (Canha) never gives in to the allure of mediocrity." — Buck Showalter Heal quickly, Fman. Be careful with the drugs.
  14. Frayed Knot wrote: All's well that ends well against the Bard. Nothing can seem foul to those who win.
  15. Fire, as the kids say. Pure fire.
  16. Marte finding his hit-by-pitch tool is helpful too. No DPs.
  17. This would be a lovely time for Nimmix to find his steal tool.
  18. They'll need a pinch-runner, so this move might cost Buck all three guys on his bench.
  19. Situation is leading off against a righty reliever, and here he comes.
  20. OK, pick a hero. And let me know if you send Vogelbach up for McCannister.
  21. It's like the Rox got the magic runner on second an inning early. My wife just left the room, dammit.
  22. My wife keeps walking into the room, and the Mets rally, and then she walks out and the Rox rally. I'm trying to get her to remain.
  23. Givens had a nice fastball, but after hitting the batter, he gave up throwing anything else.
  24. Well, there's that lead.
