  1. Brandon Nimmo on the mic gets the offense going.
  2. Mets broadcast seems to be mic-ing the rain.
  3. Mets helmets are looking deeper blue. More of a match to the Astros' tops than their own.
  4. Josh Corniely might like his first pitch back.
  5. Yes he did. None as loud as Marte's shot, though. If Keith has Rusty's book, it would make a nice loan-out to the Mets museum.
  6. Marte just clobbered the ball so hard that he put a dimple in the left field wall. He hit it so hard he was held to a single.
  7. A couple of ground balls along with playing the infield in, and the Mets limit the damage to one run. Mets coming up. 8. A couple of hard-hit shots by the Astros and the Mets are in a 1-0 hole. Nimmo looked a little unfamiliar on his first try in left.
  9. As long as youse don't start these threads, I'm going to. But there's gold and glory just waiting for you, and you're missing out. Today's pitched battle of 1962 expansion rivals features the second appearance by new Mets starting pitcher Adrian Houser, along with debuts from [CROSSOUT]centerfielder[/CROSSOUT] leftfielder(!!) Brandon Nimmo and catcher Omar Narváez. Also getting our first appearance by Keith Hernandez in the booth, with sideline reporter Steve Gelbs taking the play-by-play.
  10. Number Two is, once more with feeling, is Mevin KcReynolds.
  11. Number one is Kelvin Chapman.
  12. McNeil's arm soreness is in his left, non-throwing arm, so what do I know? He's already working with a partially torn UCL in that arm, but he insists it's unrelated, but what does he know? Nimmo is expected to make his spring debut today.
  13. I get that he's being sarcastic, but I'm not sure what Steve's point is there.
  14. It's almost always good money to bet on any band that includes a guy named "Nigel."
  15. Today's guests of honor at the Tropicana Motel are The Alarm — big haired Welsh post-punkers who struggled to get past derivative directions, but had their moment. Maybe a moment and a half. Pictured here in the Johansen Spot by the kidney-shaped pool are (l. to r.) Nigel Twist, Eddie McDonald, Mike Peters, and Dave Sharp [fimg=650]https://media.gettyimages.com/id/84258508/photo/the-alarm-rock-group-portrait-session.jpg?s=2048x2048&w=gi&k=20&c=EL7O_WSGiexuBhNKtWXkk7mv2J2oEJKR3XbWB3xFPlU=[/fimg]
  16. Sore arms are prohibitive, but a DH appearance would be a welcome site for sore eyes.
  17. Game over, as the Mets, fielding half a lineup, put up a scratch four hits and two (both by Alonso) walks. DJ Stewart, seemingly the most frequently appearing Met in the first week of games, has been really coming up short.
  18. He'll break camp with the team. He settled down after the first. The Mets are currently down 4-1 after Brett Baty's first homer of the spring. McNeil and Nimmo are still little more than a rumor.
  19. https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2024/03/manaea.png> I told you that I wasn't shitting. I'd pay the price of admission just to see the sun shoot off of this guy's locks. Best free-agent signing in team history.
  20. Mets are celebrating Lou Reed's birthday with a visit to Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter, Florida to take on the Marlins, as they currently trail 3-0. Sean Manaea currently rocking the most fabulous mane in — I shit you not — team history. 21. We don't think this deal has been officially announced yet, but the news broke yesterday, and we're excited to date it as 2/29, because there aren't a lot of transactions with that date. Transactions, 2/29/2024 [th]Direction[/th][td90]COMING[/td90][th]Transaction [/th][td90]Signed away from PHI to Minor-League Contract, Projected for Brooklyn[/td90][th]Position Group [/th][th]=#FF0000]Starting Pitcher[/th][th][/th][td90][fimg=90]https://img.mlbstatic.com/mlb-photos/image/upload/d_people:generic:headshot:67:current.png/w_213,q_auto:best/v1/people/641541/headshot/67/current[/fimg][/td90][th]Name [/th][td90]Jon Duplantier [fimg=50]https://metsrostercentral.files.wordpress.com/2023/12/usa_m.png[/fimg][/td90][th]DoB[/th][td90]1994-07-11[/td90][th]B/T[/th][td90]L/R[/td90][th]High Level[/th][td90]MLB (2021)[/td90] It gives you a good idea of how crowded the Mets system is getting that they've signed a starter who has appeared in two separate MLB seasons, and there's no room for him at the current time above Brooklyn. In fact, Duplantier is duplanting Joander Suarez back down to A-ball at the current moment, and he's certainly proven that he belongs in AA with a bullet.
  22. He's certainly on the shortlist, despite his Gospel-living ways. Was he around last week? Not a lot of folks who answer to the description of "Mets lifer" with the passing of Al Jackson and Bud Harrelson. There's David Wright who's a definitive lifer and there's Gary, Ron, Keith, and Howie in the booth, who distort the definition a bit, but would probably not argue too hard at the label. Maybe Mookie can be so described, along with HoJo, Gooden, Alfonzo, and Darryl, but again, it takes some head-in-sandiness to claim them as such. Teufel, maybe, but he's also a Bible-talkin' guy.
  23. We at Mets Roster Central love Francophonic Mets!
  24. I should have fairly titled the thread "One Mets Lifer's Unprintable Anatomical Reference." Now that we have a strong idea what he might have said, the next question is ... who's the Mets lifer?
  25. He is, but the data got crossed.
