    Santana

    1) What do you give up for him with an extension available? - I would give up anyone except Reyes and Wright, Beltran they ain't taking, Jose is one of the top 15 to 20 players in the game so I would like to keep him, so I would give Milledge, Maine and minor league players. 2) What do you give up for him with no extension available? - Milledge and minor league types. 3) How important is it that the Mets "do what it takes" blah blah? - Very, that's not been a worry lately for me. 4) Will being around Pedro make him adjust similarly well as he becomes a middle-aged pitcher? - I think that's over rated a little, pitching great will help better. 5) Who's your next favorite presumably available pitching guy? Can he ghrow a gyroball? - later. 6) You know we'd have to deal with more than the future, right? We'd have to give up Maine or Perez to replace him in the Twin rotation? Whiich one? 7) Will the Twins say, "Fuck those entitled Met fans," and keep him, even attempting to negotiatie an extension? - I think they will try that 8) Johan Santana. That's a funny combination of names, isn't it? - Hilarious but it fits. I realise I have flip-flopped on Reyes.
  3. From the Onion. ] ctober 25, 2007 Terry Francona Announces Josh Beckett Will Start Games 1, 4, 7, 2, 6, 3, 5 BOSTONBoston Red Sox manager Terry Francona announced Tuesday that the Colorado Rockies would receive a healthy dose of pitcher Josh Becket during the 2007 World Series, saying that the ALCS MVP would start games one, four, seven, two, six, three, and five, in that order. "I don't think this should come as a real shock to anyone," Francona told reporters, adding that with this schedule, Beckett should get "more than enough rest" between games one and four, which would allow him to be at maximum strength for games seven, two, and, if necessary, six, three, and the crucial fifth game. "Looking at the pitchers I have at my disposal, this gives us the best chance to win." According to Francona, Beckett should also be ready to pitch in late-inning relief of himself in games four and six, close games seven and three, and pitch on three hours rest if needed. 5. They could never replace his numbers so I hope he's gone, my guess is to the Giants, not exactly going out on a limb I know. bmfc1 , weather it's the AL or NL I don't see how he could have such a negative impact on the Mets, to win a WS you must go through the best teams and players, of course it he ended up in the NL East then that would be a bit of trouble.
  6. I didn't hear that comment Val but did McCarver say it because he felt some fans didn't know it or was it said as a casual remark as part of something else? I don't think McCarver would treat his audience like morons that didn't know home plate comes after third base.
  7. Here is the Davidoff article that Edgy mentioned in another thread. Rudy Jaramillo So Minaya wouldn't hire a coach that could potentially make the team better because he didn't want to upset Randolph?, doesn't make sense to me.
  8. Fman99 wrote: ="Valadius"]Tim McCarver is an idiot. "When the runner gets to third base, the next stop is home." DUH! I would personally love to see each team's regular season broadcasters get to do that team's postseason home games. They know the players and coaches and have perspective. Instead of the national network coverage's "appeal to the casual fan" philosophy that is so insulting to me. What is so insulting about McCarver?, Buck often sounds like he'd rather be doing a football game but McCarver has passion for the game, yeah he says some odd things but who doesn't?
  9. I wonder what things happened all over the world in the time it took for the Rockies to get the Sox out jsut now, 34 minutes.
  10. Seems like the bases have been loaded all night, they could really blow the game open here, oh wait they already have, thanks Joe.
  11. Just saw a TV Ad for DISH HD and I swear they ripped AC/DC's "Whole Lotta Rosie" but it's not Angus and the boys version but some updated thing, horrible, watch for the Ad during the game.
  12. Wouldn't Beckett start that game?
  13. That's tough on Wakefield but he's not been pitching much lately, also Ellsbury will start for the Sox, no surprise there I guess.
  14. Right, making 4 million from the Sox to close games.
  15. It is interesting that 52% of the Yankee bullpen budget went to Rivera, that's a high number, Wagner is probably similar I would think. Still though if Rivera had got injured then Joba could have closed for the minimum and perhaps they then decide not to sign Rivera for huge money and stay with Joba as the closer. Who was closing games for Boston when thew season started?, Papelbon was in the rotation I think.
  16. Bloodsport is just brilliant, when Van Damme starts to win over the crowd and the arena starts a slow clap that builds into a chant of " nut sue cow" ( no idea how else to spell that) it makes my hair stand, or was that " Kick Boxer".
  17. Have you seen the Palelbon Irish Jig he does?, did after clinching the East and the ALCS.
  18. I never heard the answer to the trivia question from the game last night. Here's the question. What three future HOF players played in game seven of the 1986 ALCS .
  19. Great article , hilarious stuff. http://www.slate.com/id/2176198/nav/tap3/
  20. From the article I got the info from. ] If Torre does not manage in 2008, broadcasting is a strong possibility. He spent nearly six years as a well-regarded broadcaster for the California Angels from 1985 to 1990, and was an analyst with ESPN during the 1989 National League playoffs and World Series. He even served as the play-by-play voice for KTLA-TV for part of the 1990 season, working with analyst Reggie Jackson.
  21. I'd not be upset no matter who wins, Joe Torre thankfully has turned down an invitation to join Buck and McCarver in the booth. I'd hope they will keep it a two man booth.
